Angels Wanted!

Become one of Madge's Angels by donating to her care fund*.

Madge is part of our PRONE Long Term Care program. These pugs are considered "forever fosters" and stay with a foster family for the rest of their life. Sometimes that can mean months, sometimes (if we are lucky) it can mean years. Some of these pugs have heavy medical costs associate with their care. Your donation to PRONE helps keep these pugs healthy and happy.

Madge (Magic, Miggitymadge, The Mig, Miggy, Marge, and most recently, Chunk) is blind and mostly deaf, so she doesn’t care what you call her, as long as you aren’t late with dinner.

Madge was part of a hoarding case, she had been spending every day and night in a dark, dirty basement. PRONE was contacted by the shelter after it became clear that they would not be able to properly care for her. While in the shelter, she had both eyes removed (due to the neglect at the hands of the owner), and an abdominal mass was found. Her prognosis was poor.

She wasn't expected to live through the weekend, but PRONE stepped up to take her, determined to at least make the end of her life better than all that had come before it.

That was almost a year and a half ago.

She recovered from her enucleation and the rescue got her a halo (a device to help her find her way around). She put on some much needed weight, and befriended the pugs in her forever foster home. One in particular, Wilma, has become her constant companion.

She continued to stabilize and was doing well until the mass in her abdomen began to grow. Over the winter, it became clear that unless the mass was removed, she would not survive. She may not have survived the surgery, but the rescue decided she deserved that chance. Survive and thrive is what she did! We like to think that she figures since getting out of that basement and being surrounded by love she has no plans on going anywhere!

If you donate to her fund, please be sure to designate a "Madge's Angel Fund" to receive a note from Madge, as well as periodic updates. :)

The world needs more angels!
